STORN Violins
My History

A lifetime
in the making.

A short story of an atelier — told quietly, through the instruments and places that have shaped it.

  1. 1984

    First instrument

I built my first violin in 1984. It was the beginning of something I did not yet have words for — the quiet pull of wood, glue and patience that has shaped my life ever since.

  2. 1990s

    Violin Making School, Leksand

Years of formal training in Sweden taught me the discipline of the classical tradition: hand-graduated plates, hot hide glue, and the long geometry of the f-hole. The bench became a teacher of its own.

  3. Apprenticeships

    New York & Prague

Time spent restoring fine instruments in two great cities, listening to soloists describe what they hear. The hands learn slowly what the ear already knows.

A note

“Every violin I build carries a small part of the people, places and silences that taught me how to listen.”
